As adults we seldom miss an appointment to take our automobiles in for preventative service. We regularly check the oil, the filters, and make sure our automobile is running properly to maintain optimum performance. We seldom take the same role of being proactive to ensure the well-being of our students in the inner city. We don’t regularly check their homework, visit their school, take our children to the library, or feed them proper nutrients to ensure that they are operating to their optimum performance.
